My brother was killed at work by another employee.
The company was sighted for MANY safety violations.
OSHA fined them $2,000(after reductions)$2,000 for
a life!!! We got nothing from Worker's comp except
medical bill payment and SOME funeral expenses. We
could not sue the company because of Michigan's
EXCLUSIVE REMEDY. They did not kill him intention-
ally, so,we had no recourse.YOU CAN'T SUE FOR MAN-
SLAUGHTER ONLY MURDER. We want to change this
"intentional tort is your exclusive remedy" clause
in our state! My brother would be alive if it had
not been for that company's GROSS NEGLEGENCE!
Companies should be held responsible their
neglegence. My brother cannot be replaced. What
incentive do employers have to provide a safe work
place? They won't be held accountable for death or
injuries. Safety is expensive. People don't
realize this law exists. 180 people die at work
every year in our state. Over 70% of these are
because of employer neglegence. That's alot of
money worker's comp doesn't have to pay out!
Intentional tort is your exclusive remedy means
that you can only sue your employer for murder!
