Go to www.cbs.state.or.us/external/mlac/1998/finalrpt.html
This is the Management-Labor Advisory Committees
Final report Dated September 23,1998.
there are currently 12 programs that make up the
worker benefit program. Check out the above site
There are two that stand out in this report.
VDR-Vocational Rehabilitation Division, The purpose
of the VRD it provides funding to VRD for expenditures
retraining injured workers-(Committee's Recommendations
DISCONTINUE FUNDING AT THE END OF THE BIENNIUM)
It will be up to the General Fund to help fund this program
Bureau of Labor & Industries (BOLI) funding.
Purpose of BOLI- To provide funding for expenditures
in enforcement of injured-workers civil rights.
(Committee's Recommendation's)
DISCONTINUE FUNDING AT THE END OF THE BIENNUIM)
It will be up to the General fund to help fund this
program. (MLAC)- There are currently two grant programs offered through the Workers Compensation system
The Worksite Redesign Program and the OR-OSHA Training Grant Program.
The Committee rccoginizes the siginificant contribution of each of the programs
but feels that there may be an advantage to having the programs combined
and administered together, Need I remind you that OSHA inspections are down almost a thousand
from previous years. ( BOLI ) Investigates employment violations related to workers compensation
If we lose funding to BOLI don't expect the general Fund to pay for this program if House Bill
2320 passes through the House. In this injured workers mind we all just lost three fingers
off the hands of injured workers. Checkout the above mentioned site, The report is 27 pages long
I recommend printing it out to keep for further reference. The three programs mentioned have not passed yet
they are under review but they are under attack.
